This is an amazing find! I captured this right outside the Admin building, it fooled me for a Lotus but looked a little different. Then I noticed something noticeable in the next shot – no exhaust system??!! My co-worker just sent me a link to the Tesla Motors Website a week ago, otherwise I would have been lost trying to figure out what it was.

The car is completely electric and can go for about 244 miles a charge. Even more impressive is Tesla Motor's claim that it keeps 100% of the torque 100% of the time.

As seen by this chart here, a high-performance 4-cylinder engine (say like the one in my Si) produces its max torque midway through the RPMs and we're only talking about 120 or so ft-lb. The Tesla on the other hand begins at about 200 ft-lb of torque and drops off well into 6000 RPMs. 14,000 RPM redline, and 0-60 in 3.9 seconds from a 115 pound engine that runs on electricity? It's truly an amazing feat if you ask me.
The Tesla Roadster starts at $101,500 MSRP…I wonder how long it would take to save that much money on gasoline?
This car is pretty damn cool and it's the first one I've seen in person. Enjoy the captures:

That sure is one sweet piece of machinery...made sweeter by running on electricity!
